Every November we run a series of posts focusing on the things that inspire us as crafters.
As you know, it’s Inspiration Month here at UnArt. But it’s also ‘last chance to get away’ month, which Misha and I celebrated with a short budget break to the city of Barcelona. There’s nothing like getting away from one’s normal environs to get creativity flowing, so I’d like to talk about three things I learned in Barcelona.
Hello again. In my last Inspiration Month post I talked about the inspiring nature of colour. What I didn’t do is mention one source of colour inspiration…
It’s inspiration month here at UnArt, and I want to talk about colour. It almost seems to be cheating to talk about colour as an inspiration; there probably aren’t many artists or illustrators who don’t find colour inspiring. It would be like a writer not liking verbs…
I’m very excited. November 2011 heralds the second anniversary of Inspiration Month at UnArts. Why is this so exciting, aside from the obvious inspirational aspect?
November was Inspiration Month here at UnArt. In case you missed any of it, here’s a quick catch-up: ♦ Where It All Began Misha talks about the necklace that inspired her to start making button jewellery. ♦ Eight Armfuls of Inspiration Ben writes about octopodes, and why he thinks they’re so cool. ♦ Oh Pixmas Tree! […]
Inspiration Month concludes with three of my four favourite, most inspirational businesswomen on the UK telly. Why not all four? Well, the fourth is so special she gets a blog all to herself next month. Some home truths about me, resident UnRuley businesswoman in training. I’m one of those Californian touchy-feely, loves to connect with nature […]
Inspiration month continues here at Unruley Articles … and today I’d like to talk fish. I like fish — they’re probably my favorite subject for painting (well, I like woods as well, but it’s hard to combine the two). I particularly like Koi carp. I love the serene and mysterious way that they glide through dark water. Silent […]
Well, that time of year approaches and we’ve now got a new set of hand-printed Christmas cards available at our Etsy store. It’s another lino-cut print (like our Snowflake card), but in three colours instead of just the one. (Also, see here for my first encounter with lino-cutting and printing.) We call it a Pixmas tree — […]
It’s inspiration month here at Unruley Articles, so I thought I’d talk about octopodes. As you may have noticed, the image-based side of UnArt has a liking for marine creatures, especially cephalopods and their friends. Why? Well, because they’re cool and strange and beautiful — but it took me a while to notice that. I can trace the point that my […]
We’ve decided to make November inspiration month here at UnRuley Articles. In keeping with the theme I wanted to kick things off with a nod to the necklace that started it all for me. On an Autumn day in 2008 my colleague and soon to be BFF, Jane, wore a chunky red button necklace to work. Unlike anything I’d […]
