This weekend UnArts will be in Kings Heath for our first event of the year.  Ophelia Gifts is sponsoring the event, which is cleverly being held the same day as the local farmers market. As you can imagine, I’m pretty darn excited, busily finishing up projects and preparing for Saturday.

I’m particularly excited about this event because  I’ll be debuting my brand new Spring into Summer jewellery collection. It’s called Sand & Sea to reflect the colours and materials used in each piece.

How did this collection come about? A much needed hiatus from work (if you can call taking care of a viciously adorable 7 week old puppy a holiday) presented me with the time and head-space to become re-inspired about  jewellery making.

The spark of inspiration was actually ignited during our trip to Barcelona last November. However, work commitments redirected my energy and attention. In January the spark was reinvigorated by the stunning Art Deco styles featured in Downton Abbey. As a result I have been ecstatically, one might even say manically, creating a collection of jewellery over the past two weeks. Including 10 bracelets and necklaces using semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, shells, lampwork glass beads and buttons on nylon cording. The designs are all influenced by styles and techniques made popular during the turn of the last century

On Saturday, 3rd of March from 11am — 5pm, I will be presenting the new Sea & Sand jewellery collection along side Ben’s gorgeous postcards. I will be joined by an array of lovingly made housewares, scarves, bags, cushions, art, adorable baby things, not to mention scrummy home made cakes, jams and chutneys. I suspect not a small portion of earnings will be swiftly re-appropriated to the cake fund. 😉

If you’re local to Birmingham or plan on visiting the area we’d love to see you there. With so many crafts people and the farmers market at your finger tips, not to mention the Hare & Hound pub and Kitchen Garden Café  just around the corner, you never know what kind of goodies you’ll find!
